Peoples lives progress in stages. Each stage has its own set of goals.
When you were in primary school, your main aims were to have the same frilly socks as your friend Sally, not to look a fool in the running races on sports day and to avoid wearing the purple dress with the green elephant your mother bought you.
When you were in high school, frilly socks were out and bobby dazzlers were in. You wouldn’t be seen dead letting your mother buy your clothes, and you tried to manage a sicky for sports day unless you were one of the "cool" athletic types.
Once you got married and had kids, you tried your best not to inflict the same difficulties on your kids, but fashions can change between lunch and morning tea. You try and borrow your mother’s shoes, and no one can make you run now unless you want to.
You want your kids to have the best, often to your own detriment. So education, clothes & health for them rate way above your own. Now that the kids have nearly finished school or uni and are talking of leaving home, it’s time to take a deep breath & start to think about yourself again.
So many times we have parents come in & say that they don’t want their children to have the same crowded teeth they have, or that they had always wished their parents had taken them to have their teeth straightened, so they want to make sure their children have nice straight teeth.
Everyone seems to think that there is no hope of having straight teeth once you are out of your teens, or that it is only worth doing before you are in your twenties. ARE YOU KIDDING? Once the kids are not under your feet so much, is the time for you to actually start to live your own life again.
It’s not like the old days either. With the advent of passive self ligating braces, such as Damon & Carriere, the forces used to straighten teeth are so gentle that the bad old days of not being able to eat for a week after a wire change are gone.
Gone too is the need to extract to make room to fit in teeth. In most cases, it will be possible to gently allow your mouth to grow enough so that all of your teeth can fit in. The result is shorter more comfortable orthodontic treatment, & radiant wide smiles.
When it’s time to put yourself back on the list of things that are important, talk to Karen and her team about the wonderful possibilities that the passive self ligating magic of Damon & Carrier has for your smile. You will never make a better decision.
