Sleep problems. Symptoms

Symptoms showed when sleep-deprived

When an individual does not get enough sleep to feel awake and alert, they begin to experience symptoms of sleep deprivation.

The main symptom of ongoing sleep loss is excessive daytime sleepiness, but other symptoms include:

  • yawning
  • moodiness
  • fatigue
  • irritability
  • depressed mood
  • difficulty learning new concepts
  • forgetfulness
  • inability to concentrate or a “fuzzy” head
  • lack of motivation
  • clumsiness
  • increased appetite and carbohydrate cravings
  • reduced sex drive

There is a link between sleep problems and chronic pain, heart problems, Type 2 diabetes, blood pressure, depression, and much more.

Most importantly it is related to feeling tired, and to having disgruntled spouse/ family members when snoring is involved.
